Canyonlight Photo and Scenic Tours is owned and operated by JC Borders and Deb Truman-Borders. Their team effort makes for a wonderful partnership that is committed to your enjoyment and safety at all times.

JC BORDERS

JC spends countless hours exploring the desert with an excitement and passion to capture the perfect light for his photographs. A well known local artist, he uses his photographs as references for his paintings. His background as an artist and photographer gives him the ability to view the landscapes and their composition with an artistic eye that he is happy to pass on to our guests.

Bruce Jager has a Masters Degree in Media Technology. He has taught adult photography, produced professional slide shows, and managed black and white darkrooms. He has hiked, bicycled, kayaked, and 4-wheeled the back country of Canyonlands with a special interest in Ancient Native American rock art and birding. Bruce is extremely knowledgeable, personable, and goes out of his way to assist you in any way he can on a Canyonlight tour.

In memorium: Bruce passed away August 24, 2001 of a sudden heart attack. He will be missed by his dear friends and former guests.

Professional Workshops : Bruce Hucko

Bruce Hucko is a freelance photographer, author, and art educator whose primary work focuses on the art, indigeneity and the environment. It is his passion for the land and how we relate to it as people that makes Bruce such a fine photography coach. Rather than guiding you to the typical "postcard" shot areas, Bruce will guide you into the creative thinking process that will lead you into the development of a "personal vision". This process is complimented by Hucko's mastery of film and camera technique. He consistently works with large format (4x5), 120 mm, and 35mm equipment equally balancing his work with color and B&W. He maintains a B&W darkroom and is well known for his print making. Hucko's work appears in a wide variety of publications and projects.

He has 17 publications featuring his work exclusively, including 2 that he wrote, with 6 books in progress. He produced the 40-minute, 8 projector slide show called "The Canyon's Edge" that received a merit award from the Utah Endowment for the Humanities. He was also the featured speaker at the New Zealand Arts Education Conference and has received the Rockefeller Bros.. Fund Award for Excellence in Arts Education....to name only a few of his accomplishments. Whatever your photography background, you will find your time well spent on a Canyonlight-Hucko workshop.
